Traceability and Tariffs:
The Insights Every Seafood Business Needs

Robust Software for Batch & Process Manufacturing

If you're in seafood, you’re a part of something big.  The global seafood market hit about $359 billion in 2023, and is projected to nearly double—to over $837 billion by 2032—with the U.S. market alone expected to surge to $112 billion by then, according to this report by Fortune Business Insights. But our market can be a bit dingy. TIME says that up to 30–33% of seafood in the U.S. marketplace may be mislabeled, with buyers often unknowingly paying premium prices for lower-value fish—or worse, risking allergens. That’s incredibly dangerous for consumer and brand alike.

Opaque supply chains are costly. But according to the Financial Times, a  lack of digital traceability could threaten $2–3 trillion in seafood-related assets, with investors pushing for end-to-end transparency from catch to consumer.

And, just for fun, there are tarrifs to navigate just to separate the surfers from the sinkers.

For all of these reasons and more, in April we brought together seafood industry expert Cyra Humber and traceability titan Judith Kirkness for a timely conversation: “Navigating Traceability and Tariffs: Preparing Your Seafood Business for FSMA 204 and the Current Geopolitical Landscape.”
